Network Marketing and its Reputation

When you mention "Network Marketing" or "MLM" to someone, I've noticed that it usually elicits one of two responses. Something along the lines of either "those don't work" or "that's a scam!". Let's address the scam issue first.

It's really no surprise that Network Marketing is viewed as a scam by some people. The fact of the matter is, some of Network Marketing opportunities have been scams and have been subsequently shut down. But that doesn't change the fact that most network marketing companies are legitimate and have the goal of helping their distributors build a business under them as well as market products and/or services. A network marketing company might be a scam however. A simple test can help you decide if your network marketing company is a scam or not. It's available in my free eBook "Choosing the Right Network Marketing Company".

Another part of the Network Marketing reputation problem is the belief that "those don't work". This belief stems from the massive failure rate often cited by critics of Network Marketing. They typically say something like "97% of people who join Network Marketing companies, fail". First of all, I don't agree with that figure, but it seems to be prevalent so let's just go with it. And let's just assume that yes, the failure rate in Network Marketing companies is indeed higher than it should be.

There is a straightforward answer for this. The main reason that failure runs high in Network Marketing is that people are still using outdated and outmoded strategies for running their Network Marketing business. The reason they do this is because the majority of Network Marketing companies still teach them these ways. And of course the individual Network Marketing distributors don't know any better.

Fortunately, there is an alternative. It is an attraction based methodology for running a Network Marketing business that smart Network Marketers use today. You can get a glimpse of this strategy by downloading the free eBook The 7 Great Lies of Network Marketing.

While Network Marketing certainly has reasons for its reputation problems, there are still plenty of reasons to join a Network Marketing company. It is not a scam and it does indeed work: if you work it right.
